I still laugh about the time I was in Brazil when someone asked me if I was filling my mug with Coca-Cola. I told him it was coffee, and he was genuinely shocked. Turns out, they don’t drink coffee in the same large, refill-it-all-day way that we do here in the US. It was such a small moment, but it stuck with me.
That experience is one of the reasons I love trying things from other parts of the world – especially food and drinks. You learn so much from the little differences. The way people eat, drink, and enjoy everyday things can be completely normal to them and totally surprising to us.
Travel isn’t always easy to fit in, and I don’t have any upcoming trips on the horizon. Finding small ways to experience something different is one of my favorite things. That’s why trying a Try the World box ended up being such a fun experience.
Inside were a variety of food and specialty items from different countries around the world. It was genuinely fun to open, and I enjoyed researching everything, where it came from, and what made each item unique.
How Try the World Boxes Work
If you’re curious how Try the World works, it’s pretty simple. They send curated boxes filled with snacks, treats, and specialty items from different countries, delivered right to your door.
You can order a single box or sign up for a subscription. Each box includes a variety of unique items – things you likely wouldn’t find at your local grocery store.
Here are some photos from my recent Try the World box. It was so fun to try everything, especially the Dubai chocolate that I have been hearing so much about. (It was delicious and lived up to the hype).

My daughter’s favorite items were the Pepero “chocolate covered pretzel sticks” from Korea (which are similar to Pocky sticks). My husband liked the pickle-in-a-pouch (so weird opening a bag with a pickle in it!). I really enjoyed the Dubai chocolate.
This was a really fun experience. It’s less about quickly eating through everything, and more about taking your time, trying something new, and maybe finding a new favorite snack or treat.
Try the World would make a great gift for someone who loves food, travel, or trying new things. It’s also a fun way to treat yourself if you’re craving something different but don’t have a trip planned anytime soon.
